Mrs. Laura C, Thompson of Georgetown, SC has gone home to be with her Lord, passing away November 18, 2023, at home surrounded by her loved ones.
A visitation will be held 6:00-8:00pm Tuesday November 21, 2023 at Graham Funeral Home. A closed casket funeral will be held 2:00pm Wednesday November 23, 2023 in the chapel of Graham Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
Laura was born March 25, 1937 in Williamsburg County, the youngest of nine children, to the late Mottie Clyde Coker and Docia Ann Altman Coker. She started her life living in Rhems, then moving to Tyson Fire Tower where her parents worked with the forestry department as fire watchers in the tower. From there, she moved to Winyah Fire Tower on Hwy 17 just outside Georgetown. At 15, she married her husband Bland Hadden Thompson, Jr. on August30, 1952. Together, they raised 6 children.
Surviving her are her children: Marilyn Lambert, (Wayne), Janice Honyotski (Frank), Randy D. Thompson (Tonya), Laurie Howard (Thomas) and Michael Bland Thompson. She had 11 grandchildren, 9 Great Grands and 3 Great-Great Grands. Her special family friends are Lois Thompson, CD Rowe, Johnny and Danielle Brown and her beloved fur Baby Penny.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Bland Hadden Thompson Jr, a son Patrick Ryan Thompson and a grandson Patrick Anakin Thompson; two brothers, Joe Clyde Coker, John Wilson Coker “Clemmy”; and two sisters, Marie Burroughs and Annie May Tayor; as well as 7 infants of Mottie and Docia Coker.
