Obituary of Joe Weldon Long

Mr. Joe Weldon Long, 82, loving husband of Patricia Lambert Long, passed away Friday July 14, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family. A funeral, officiated by Ricky Lambert, will be held 5:00pm Wednesday July 19, 2023 in the chapel of Graham Funeral Home. The family will receive friends, beginning at 4:00pm. Burial, directed by Graham Funeral Home, will be private. Born in Andrews, SC, he was a son of the late James Henry Long, Sr. and the late Elizabeth Thomas Long. Mr. Long was a retired welder with Georgetown Steel Corporation, completing over 32 years of service. He was an excellent mechanic that enjoyed building and racing cars, often driving under the number 101. Mr. Long enjoyed his time in the outdoors hunting and fishing with friends and family. He enjoyed tending to his garden and was always eager to share his harvest with any and all. Surviving, in addition to his wife of sixty years are two daughters, Dorothy “Kathy” Powers, of Georgetown, Patricia “Pebbles” McKenzie, both of Georgetown; four grandchildren, Brittany Bracy (Anthony Elliott), Justin McKenzie (Jill), Heather McKenzie, and Trinity Powers, all of Georgetown; ten great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; one sister, Nealy Ethridge, of Nebraska; and a number of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a grandson, Joe Weldon Bracy; a great granddaughter; Brianna Michelle Bracy; and eight sisters, Geneva, Sally, Ertis, Joyce, Vermie, Vinnie, Cora, and Ada; and one brother, Junior.
