Obituary of Joyce McLeod

Joyce McLeod, 90, passed away Friday, September 21, 2012 at Tidelands Community Hospice House. Born on April, 8, 1922, in Georgetown, she was a daughter of the late Captain Ben McLeod and the late Mamie Parham. Ms. McLeod was a member of First Baptist Church, a graduate of Coker College and was a former English teacher. Her love for the fine arts led her to becoming a stage actress and staring in many stage productions. Ms. McLeod also enjoyed gardening and was a lover of animals. Survivors include four nephews, James S. Bass III (Diane) of Beaufort and Ben McLeod Jr., Bob McLeod, and Bruce McLeod all of Maryland; a niece, Betsy Craft (Jack) of Maryland; a sister in law, Elizabeth McLeod of Maryland; and a number of great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Hasel Bass; and a brother, Ben McLeod. A Graveside Service will be held at 3 PM Sunday, September 23, 2012 in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens with the Rev.
