Obituary of James Edward Harris

James Edward Harris, 90, husband of the late Mary Ann Smith Harris, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2023. Mr. Harris was born on January 8, 1933 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to the late Turner Edward Harris and the late Lucille Brewer Harris. He graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in Civil Engineering and embarked on an amazing career that spanned the globe. He served in the United States Army and was a jack of all trades in his free time, able to build or fix anything. He loved volunteering his time to help people, with one of his most treasured experiences being the time he spent helping with his local Boy Scout Troop. Mr. Harris was a lifetime Sertoma member. He greatly enjoyed the outdoors and loved all types of fishing and boating. Mr. Harris lived an incredible life, full of equal parts adventure, love, and compassion for his fellow man. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Mr. Harris is survived by his beloved daughter, Margie Harris of Georgetown and his sister, Faye Harris of Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents and the love of his life, Mary Ann Smith Harris. The family asks that memorials be made to St. Frances Animal Center at 125 N.
