Obituary of Thomas H Shurling

Please share a memory of Thomas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Thomas H. Shurling departed this earthly realm for another on November 25,2022 in Myrtle Beach, SC. Tommy was born July 21,1991 to Richard Shurling and Jacqueline Sanders. Tommy was a graduate of Georgetown High School Class of 2010. He enjoyed auto mechanic’s but he could fix anything he touched. Cars, mopeds, lawn mowers, plumbing problems, anything. When he graduated his teachers wrote letters and called Tommy “the last of a dying breed.”He was such an old soul. There just aren’t many people like him. Tommy has always had a heart of gold. He would do anything for anyone. Even while living on the streets he did his best to help those in need to find shelter, food and daily necessities. Tommy enjoyed going out to breakfast, fishing and spending time on the beach at night listening to the crashing waves and searching for shells. He felt as if the ocean air helped soothe his mind. Tommy has always been so smart. He was a take charge kind of guy. A true leader with a huge sense of humor. He loved to make people laugh with his jokes and funny noises. He had the biggest smile ever and the deepest hazel eyes. Growing up he would help his family with anything. He was someone they could lean on. He always stepped up when needed. He loved to go fishing and in middle school he enjoyed playing the sax and messing around with his acoustic and bass guitars. The streets of Myrtle Beach stole Tommy from his family some years ago and wrapped him in a dark blanket of addiction, mental illness and suicidal thoughts. He truly loved his children, family and true friends. Many family members and friends tried to reach out to him but the darkness made his true self unable to hear us. In the end this is what took him away from those that loved him deeply. He will always lovingly be remembered by his momma as her sweet boy Tom Tom, he will always be T Bone to his Pops and Bubba to his brother Michael. He will always be Lauren GraceLee’s big brother and Daddy to his precious girls Hailey and Allyiah. He’s been known as a best friend/brother to many he’s crossed on his path of life. He will never be forgotten and talked about and thought of daily. His memory will live on and on because of the marks he’s left on everyone’s hearts. As you remember Tommy please remember him for who he truly was not for who the darkness tried to make him become. Remember his sweet gentle soul full of true love and the best of intentions. Remember him as being humble and kind, that’s his true being. Tommy was preceded in death by his Daddy Richard, his daughter Journey, grandparents and aunts and uncles. Tommy is survived by his Mother Jacqueline Sanders, his other Dad he lovingly called Pops Charles Sanders, his brother and best friend Michael Wayne Shurling, his little sister Lauren GraceLee Sanders, his daughters that he loved with everything in him Hailey and Alliyah, the Mother of his children Stephanie Healey, his Grandmother Jacqueline Burdick, his Grandmother Lillie Mae Sanders, several Aunts,Uncles and Cousins. The family will hold a memorial service for Tommy at a later date. If you are struggling with addiction, mental illness or suicidal thoughts please reach out to someone for help. You are worth it, please stay.
