Obituary of Roland Carl Gunter

Roland Carl Gunter, 82, passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at his home. A funeral service, officiated by Reverend Wyllene Skipper, will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2022 at Pennyroyal Garden’s Mausoleum at 4 p.m. The family will receive friends immediately after the service at Herbert United Methodist Church Family Life Center. Mr. Gunter was born in Walterboro, SC on September 18, 1939 to the late Ocie Dantzler Gunter and the late Inez Hiott Gunter. He was a Winyah High School graduate and served in the United States Navy. Mr. Gunter was a Founding Member of Herbert United Methodist Church and a member of the United Methodist Men group. He retired from International Paper Company after many years as the mill’s electrical foreman. He enjoyed spending leisure time outdoors, boating, singing in the church choir and especially liked to help others in need. Mr. Gunter is survived by his wife, Diane P. Moore; a daughter, Tracie Gunter Bowe and her husband Michael of Irmo, SC; a son, Mitchell Gunter of Georgetown, SC; two grandchildren, Alex and Christopher Bowe; three stepsons, Al Moore and his wife Jennifer of Savannah, GA, Chris Moore and his wife Lindsay of Georgetown, Jeff Moore of Statesboro, GA; seven step-grandchildren, Allen Moore III, Maggie Moore, Henry Moore, Harper Moore, Price Moore, Mac Moore, and Ashby Moore; one brother, Timothy Ocie Gunter and his wife Robin of Raleigh, NC; and a number of beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Wanda Gunter Rowland. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.grahamfuneralhome.org.
