Obituary of Archie Loyd Vause

Archie Loyd “Dody” Vause, 76, husband of Ethel Mae Mills “Punkin” Vause, passed away on March 24, 2022 at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital. A graveside funeral service, officiated by Pastor Jamie Harrelson, will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at 3PM in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. Mr. Vause was born in Horry County on January 25, 1946 to the late Hugie Andrew Vause and the late Dottie Mae Vause. Mr. Vause ran Dody’s Heating and Air, a successful HVAC company in Georgetown SC for many years. The majority of his life was spent with his wife of 57 years whom he adored. Family was the most important thing to Mr. Vause, he is described by those who knew him as the definition of unconditional love. He always took care of each of his children and grandchildren. Mr. Vause devoted the last 20 years of his life to taking care of his son. He was an avid Miami Dolphins fan and he loved watching NASCAR. Dody spent a great part of his life creating memories and supporting his sons at the racetrack. He also enjoyed coaching and supporting his grandchildren in each sport they played. The greatest pleasures in his life came from family. In addition to his wife of 57 years, Mr. Vause is survived by two sons, Kevin B. Vause and Chris Vause, both of Georgetown; three grandchildren, Maddie Vause, Meagan Vause, C.J. Vause, all of Georgetown; one brother, Don Vause of Goergetown; one sister, Kathleen Wilson of Georgia; nieces and nephews, Rick Smith (Dana), Michelle Howard (Timmy), Stephanie Taylor, all of Georgetown.
