Obituary of Susan Mitchum Rollins

Susan Ila Mitchum Rollins, 63, wife of James Weldon Rollins, Sr., passed away on Friday, December 25, 2020 at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital. A graveside funeral service will be held on Monday, December 28, 2020 at 1PM in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. Due to Covid-19, masks will be required and social distancing will be enforced. Mrs. Rollins was born in Manning, SC on October 10, 1957 to the late Duffin Carlisle Mitchum, Sr. and the late Ila Mae Pate Mitchum. She worked as a secretary for Georgetown County DSS for over 40 years. She loved to travel and sight-see. Mrs. Rollins enjoyed cooking for and spending time with her family and friends, especially her granddaughter, Mary. She was a wealth of knowledge and enjoyed trivia about many subjects including her favorite television show, Andy Griffith. In addition to her husband of 43 years, Mrs. Rollins is survived by two sons, James Weldon “Jim” Rollins, Jr. and his wife Melanie of Georgetown and Joseph Carlisle “Joe” Rollins of Georgetown; one granddaughter who was the light of her life, Mary Rollins of Georgetown; one sister, Debbie Mitchum Hough and her husband Isaac of Moncks Corner; one brother, Mitch Mitchum and his wife Lynn of Georgetown; and a number of nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sampit United Methodist Church at 1309 Saints Delight Road, Georgetown, SC 29440 or to Ronald McDonald Charities of Charleston at 81 Gadsden Street, Charleston SC, 29401.
