Obituary of Richard Archer

Richard Burton "Rick" Archer, Jr., 54, husband of Cathy Allen Archer, passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at Waccamaw Community Hospital. Born on September 25, 1957, in Philadelphia, PA, he was a son of the Rev. Richard Burton Archer, Sr. and Janet Brown Archer. Rick was a member of Grace Church Waccamaw. He was a US Navy Veteran and was an Operation Manager for Herndon Inc. Rick was actively involved in Kairos Prison Ministry as well as a founding member of the Waccamaw Youth Baseball Association. He coached Dixie Youth Baseball for a number of years and was a member of the Gamecock Club, the American Legion and enjoyed fishing. But the great love of his life was always his family. Survivors include his wife of Pawleys Island; two children, Richard Burton Archer, III and Matthew Allen Archer both of the home; mother and father of Florence; three sisters, Cheryl Archer Jacobus of Florence, Dawn Archer Martin (John) of Greenville, and Cynthia Archer Carter (Larry) of Florence; a brother, James Stalford Archer of Columbia; a brother in law, Al Allen (Shanda) of Aynor; a sister in law, Monica Allen of Columbia; and a number of nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 3 PM Friday, July 6, 2012 at Grace Church Waccamaw with the Rev. Tim Surratt officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
