Obituary of Sue Baker Gibson

Elizabeth Sue Baker Gibson, 77, passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at her home. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at 2PM Messiah Baptist Church. Born in Georgetown, SC on August 12, 1942, she was a daughter of the late Floyd Morgan Baker, Sr. and the late Christine Lambert Baker. Mrs. Gibson was a Winyah High School graduate who enjoyed cooking and the company of other people. She didn’t care who you were or where you were from, she treated everyone equally and loved serving others. She delighted in taking care of her customers at Piggly Wiggly and missed it upon her retirement. She is survived by one granddaughter, Candice Gaskins; one great granddaughter, Morgan Gaskins; two brothers, Bobby Baker of Oregon and Dennis Baker (Cheryl) of Georgetown; a number of nieces and nephews; and special family members Pete and Lynn Peters. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Bennett Laverne Gibson; one son, Tracey Gibson; one great grandson, Payton Gaskins; one sister, Katheryn Flegal; and one brother, Floyd Baker, Jr. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Messiah Baptist Church at 2719 Old Charleston Rd, Georgetown, SC 29440.
