Obituary of Jeanean Ross Smith

Leila Jeanean Ross Smith, wife of Paul Walter Smith, Jr., passed away Monday February 10, 2020 at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital surrounded by her friends and loving family. Funeral Services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, February 14, 2020 in the sanctuary of Screven Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 2 p.m. Born in Blaney, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late John Gary Ross and Leila Mae Hinson Ross. She was a graduate of Camden High School. Mrs. Smith was a devoted member of Screven Baptist Church, the Ruth Sunday School Class, and the Willowbank Women’s Lunch Group. She enjoyed working in her yard and keeping her house clean. The family reports that she would go through three Lion’s Club brooms a year with her sweeping. Mrs. Smith enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren. She would entertain all by playing her mother’s 82-year-old piano. Mrs. Smith delighted in sharing lunch dates with the love of her life, her devoted husband. Surviving, in addition to her husband of 59 years are, two daughters, Wendy Siau (Danny) and Paula Gunter (Will) of Georgetown; one son, Jeffrey Smith (Kathryn) of Columbia; one granddaughter, Abby Siau of Georgetown; four grandsons: Paul Scott Smith (Maria) of Gastonia, NC; David Smith (Emma) of Charlotte, NC; Austin Siau and Zachary Gunter, both of Georgetown; one great-grandson, Santiago Smith of Gastonia, NC; two sisters, Pat Hall of Augusta, GA and Loretta Carr of Elgin, SC. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was predeceased by a sister, Wyrian Arnold, and a brother, LoRan Ross.
