Margie Mabel Lambert Avant, 81, widow of Johnson W. Avant, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Born on January 10, 1932, in Georgetown County, she was a daughter of the late Jerry Lambert and the late Agnes Miller Lambert. Mrs. Avant attended Ringel Heights Baptist Church and devoted her time to the Salvation Army as well as helping others.
Survivors include three children, Teresa Odum (Buck) of Georgetown, Tony D. Avant (Diane) of Union, KY and Darlene Howard of Georgetown; five grandchildren, Fonda Odum of New Jersey, Lacie Avant of Myrtle Beach, Lucas Avant of Union, KY, Kelsey Howard of Georgetown and Kelly N. Howard of Georgetown; one great grandchild, Raven C. Agosto of Myrtle Beach; one sister, Arveta Avant of Vicksbug, MS; and one brother, Jerry Lambert, Jr. (Dorothy) of Georgetown.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth Lambert and Ravon Lambert.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, June 30, 2012 at Maryville Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Tommy Cox officiating. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, 2401 Anthuan Maybank Dr. Georgetown, SC 29440.
