Obituary of Mary Z Calhoun

Mary Z. Calhoun “Mema”, 82, daughter of Doc Robert and Louise Adell Zurcher, departed this life on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital after an illness.

Mema loved to sew, fish, cook, and take care of others.  Through the years, she operated and managed several restaurants in Georgetown County and was a foster parent or many children in the area.

She is survived by a son, David Durant Calhoun; a daughter-in-law, Carla Schuchman; a brother Francis “Abbie” Zurcher and his wife Janeane; three grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sons, John Caldwell Calhoun and Robert Sessions; her daughter, Lucinda Calhoun; grandson Shane Austin Calhoun; brothers, William R. Zurcher, Wilton P. Zurcher, and Harley R. Zurcher; and her sister, Carolyn L. McClain.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 21, 2019 at 2PM in Graham Funeral Home Chapel.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1PM-2PM at the funeral home.  Burial will immediately follow the service in Antioch Cemetery.
