Obituary of Barbara Owens

Barbara Ann Taylor Owens, 79, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2012 at her home. Born on May 24, 1933, in Camden, Arkansas, she was a daughter of the late Jefferson Davis Taylor and the late Lois E. Tate Simpson. Ms. Owens was a devoted member of First Baptist Church where she was a member of the Lydia Sunday School Class and served on the Finance Committee and the late Long Range Planning Committee. Ms. Owens retired from Wachovia Bank with more than 35 years of service having served as the former Assistant Vice President of the South Carolina National Bank and Wachovia Bank. Ms. Owens also served on the Georgetown Higher Education Commission. She was a member of many garden clubs to include the Maryville Garden club and enjoyed going to the beach, gardening and helping at her church. Survivors include two daughters, Debra O. Watkins and Kimberly A. Owens both of Georgetown; three grandchildren, Leigh Noel Thomas of Moncks Corner, T. Nicholas Altman of Georgetown and Joseph Chance Ledford (Elizabeth) of Murrells Inlet; three great grandchildren, Nicholas Bishop Altman of Georgetown, Madison Taylor Altman of Georgetown and Annaleigh Peyton Thomas of Moncks Corner; and a sister in law, Anna Taylor of Ladson. She was preceded in death by a brother, Burl D. Taylor; and a sister, Mary Alice T. McRae. A memorial service will be held at 10 AM Friday, June 22, 2012 at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Keith Wall officiating. Memorials may be made to Graham Funeral Home for a trust account that is being set up for Kimberly Ann Owens.
