Bertha Elizabeth Blakely, 89, widow of Leo W. Blakely, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2019 at her home.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at 3PM at Graham Funeral Home Chapel.

Born in Awendaw on October 29, 1929 to the late Robert Lawrence Ackerman and the late Bertha Gaskins Ackerman, she was a former nursing assistant with Georgetown Memorial Hospital. She retired from Winyah Extended Care.  She was a member of McClellanville Pentecostal Holiness Church where she taught Sunday School for many years.

Surviving are three daughters, Gloria E. Mills of Georgetown, Elizabeth A. Lucas of Macedonia, Debra L. Swails of Georgetown; four sons, Michael Blakely of Honey Hill, James R. Blakely of Bethera, Geary Blakely of McClellanville, Martin G. Blakely of Bryson City, NC; special family members, Jonathan and Lynn Brown of Georgetown; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Leo Lawrence Blakely; a sister, Virginia Cooper; brothers, Lawrence Ackerman, Jr., James T. Ackerman, Robert Ackerman, and Charles Ackerman.
