Obituary of Paula Dorris Potter

Paula Kay Dorris Potter, 64, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away Saturday September 29, 2018 in her residence surrounded by her family.

A memorial service will be held Saturday October 6, 2018 from 2PM-4PM at Holden Beach Chapel located at 107 Rothschild Street, Supply, NC 28462.  A memorial service will also be held on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 122 Murray Court, Elkton, KY 42220 from 3PM-5PM.

Born in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Mr. Charles Edwin Dorris and Mrs. Barbara Dale Crawford Dorris. 

Mrs. Potter grew up in the Sharon Grove Community of Todd County Kentucky, also known as “Frog Level”.  She was a licensed nurse, plumber, and business owner.  Mrs. Potter was an artist who enjoyed jewelry making and painting.  She loved horses, knitting, fishing, and motorcycle riding.  Mrs. Potter was both a jokester and caregiver to all.  She loved people and enjoyed cooking for and spending time with friends and family.  Among her many honors in life, she was commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel.

Surviving in addition to her husband of over 38 years, Jack Lee Potter, are: two daughters, Lucretia Rowberry (Steve) of Trenton, Kentucky, Tammy Service (Bruce) of Dunn, North Carolina; five granddaughters, Lindsey Campbell (Will) of Kenley, North Carolina, Rikki Service of Dunn, North Carolina, and Rachel Rowberry, Alexis Forbes, Corrin Omwanghe (Wan), all of Fresno, California; Eight greatgrandchildren; a sister, Sherry Gay Dorris (Will) of Conway, South Carolina; a brother, Jeffrey Keith Dorris (Debbie) of Wetumpka, Alabama; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Mamie Izora Kirkpatric Dorris.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Liver or Ovarian Cancer Research at American Cancer Society P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
