Obituary of John Allen High

John Allen High, 77, passed away Monday, August 6, 2018 at his home.

Funeral services with military honors, officiated by Rev. Dora Gafford, will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 11AM at Graham Funeral Home Chapel.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.

Born on August 12, 1940 to the late Dorothy Sanders High and John Frank High, he graduated from Winyah High School and the University of South Carolina.  He was an officer in the United States Army and served two tours in Vietnam.  Mr. High earned a Bronze Star with V Device for Valor with Oak Leaf Cluster.  He was a sales manager of Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens for 30 years.  Mr. High was an avid South Carolina Gamecock fan.  In his free time, he loved fishing and boating.  He was a member of VFW Post 6444 and of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church.

He is survived by one daughter, Leslie High Morris (Mike) of Conway; a son, John Alexander “Jay” High of Georgetown; four grandchildren, Elizabeth and Alex High of Georgetown and Cody Kaufman and Melody Morris of Conway; two sisters, Teresa Carmichael (Charlie) of Prosperity, SC and Marie Humphrey (Gary) of West Columbia, SC; one brother, Arnold High (Marylou) of McClellanville, SC.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Donald Ray High.
