Mrs. Elvia Olivia Trochez Mejia, 88, widow of Manuel Barrientos, passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital, in Georgetown, South Carolina.

Visitation will be held at Graham Funeral Home on Friday, November 3, 2017, starting at 6:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Georgetown, SC, on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 11:00 AM, with Reverend Richard C. Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens, 1640 Pennyroyal Rd, Georgetown, SC. 

Mrs. Trochez Mejia was born in Ilama, Santa Barbara, Honduras on December 31, 1928, to the late Ruperto Trochez and the late Lina Mejia. She immigrated to the United States of America in 1984, to be closer to her children. She lived in Bronx, New York for many years and lived in Georgetown, South Carolina for the past 26 years. She loved this country and was always grateful for the life-changing opportunities it gave her.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and loved to travel. She enjoyed sewing, music, and dancing. She loved cooking for her family and seeing them together. Always strong in her faith, she held her Rosary to the very end.

Mrs. Trochez Mejia is survived by her six children: Obdulia (Tula) Maradiaga of Georgetown, SC, Silvia Barrientos of Georgetown, SC, Manuel (Lito) Barrientos of Georgetown, SC, Mery Barrientos of Choloma, Cortes, Honduras, Elvia (Dilcia) Barrientos of Georgetown, SC, and Ruben Barrientos of Georgetown, SC, twenty-two grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, four siblings, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, spouse, two grandchildren, and five siblings.

Grant her eternal rest, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her.

 

 

Doña Elvia Olivia Trochez Mejía, 88, viuda de Don Manuel Barrientos, falleció el miércoles, 1 de noviembre de 2017, en el hospital Tidelands Georgetown Memorial, en Georgetown, Carolina del Sur, Estados Unidos de América.

La velación se llevará a cabo en Graham Funeral Home el viernes, 3 de noviembre, comenzando a las 6:00 PM. La Misa de Exequias será en la Iglesia Católica de Santa María en Georgetown, Carolina del Sur, el sábado, 4 de noviembre, a las 11:00 AM, con el Reverendo Richard C. Wilson oficiando. El entierro seguirá en Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens, 1640 Pennyroyal Road, en Georgetown, Carolina del Sur.

Doña Elvia nació en Ilama, Santa Bárbara, Honduras, el 31 de diciembre de 1928. Vivió por casi 50 años en Nueva Pimienta, Cortes, en Honduras. Emigró a los Estados Unidos de América en 1984, para estar más cerca a sus hijos. Ella vivió en Bronx, Nueva York durante muchos años y vivió en Georgetown, Carolina del Sur durante los últimos 26 años. Ella amaba este país y siempre estaba agradecida con todas las oportunidades que le dio.

Ella era miembro de la Iglesia Católica de Santa María y le encantaba viajar. Ella disfrutaba de la costura, la música y el baile. Le encantaba cocinar para su familia y verlos juntos. Siempre fuerte en su fe, ella sostuvo su Rosario hasta el final.

A Doña Elvia le sobreviven sus seis hijos: Obdulia (Tula) Maradiaga de Georgetown, Carolina del Sur, Silvia Barrientos de Georgetown, Carolina del Sur, Manuel (Lito) Barrientos de Georgetown, Carolina del Sur, Mery Barrientos de Choloma, Cortés, Honduras, Elvia (Dilcia) Barrientos de Georgetown, Carolina del Sur y Rubén (Darío) Barrientos de Georgetown, SC, veintidós nietos, diecinueve bisnietos, cuatro hermanos y numerosos sobrinas y sobrinos. Le preceden en la muerte sus padres, su esposo, dos nietos y cinco hermanos.
