Obituary of Lila Lambert Cumbie
Mrs. Lila Lambert Cumbie, 83, widow of George Handford Cumbie, passed away October 11, 2017 at Williamsburg Regional Hospital.
A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday October 13 2017 in Saints Delight Pentecostal Holiness Church. Funeral services will be held Saturday October 14, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the church. Burial, directed by Graham Funeral Home, will follow in Bloomingvale Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Cumbie was born November 12, 1933 in the Sampit area of Georgetown County, a daughter of the late Rubin Lambert and Lila Lambert. She was a retired machine operator after a number of years in the textile industry. Mrs. Cumbie loved spending time with her family, and sewing and cooking. She was Saints Delight Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Surviving are: two daughters, Janice Cumbie of Andrews and Patricia Ward (Jake) of Georgetown; one son, Handford Cumbie of Andrews; one sister, Betty Carol Newton of Lexington; one brother, Michael Lawrence Lambert of Columbia; four grandchildren, Robert C. Barnes II of Andrews, Jacob D. Ward (Amy) of Georgetown, Jeremy D. Ward (Amie) of Georgetown, and Brittany Cumbie of Conway; nine great-grandchildren, Tucker D. Ward, Chandler Ward, Patelyn Ward, Hunter Dugan Ward, Kaylie Ward, Fisher Ward, April Dimmery, Austin Dimmery, and Caidan David Cumbie; and a very dear friend, Ruth Wallace Rodgers.
In addition to her parents and her husband of 56 years, she was predeceased by: three brothers, Waymond Lambert, George Washington ‘Wash” Lambert, and Bryant Lambert; and two grandchildren, Nicholas Cumbie and Amy Dimmery.
