Obituary of Wallace Lee Roberts

Wallace Lee Roberts, 89, passed away Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017 from 5pm-7pm at Graham Funeral Home.  Funeral services and burial will be private.

Born in Bastrop, Louisiana on February 21, 1928, he was a son of the late Arthur Newell Roberts and the late Mary Allen Roberts.

Mr. Roberts was a Winyah High School graduate and football player, where his team went 38-2 during his time as quarterback.  He served in the U.S. Navy and was a WWII veteran.  He was a member of Winyah 40 and a Shriner.  Mr. Roberts worked at International Paper for 42 years as Head Electrician and was a member of the Quarter Century Club.  In his free time, he loved playing golf and was a member of Wedgefield Golf Club.  He shot his age over 300 times and had six hole-in-ones.  He was a loving father, grandfather, and brother who will be missed dearly.

Surviving are two sons, Wayne Roberts (Kathy Bullock) of Pawleys Island and Gary Roberts (Marvie Collins) of Pawleys Island; four grandchildren, Lee Westberry (Danny, Lois Roberts) of Goose Creek, Robin Roberts (Egle) of Myrtle Beach, Susan Warner Roberts of Columbia, Wallace Hampton Roberts of Pawleys Island; four great grandchildren, Warner Lee Westberry, Sophie Raye Westberry, Lilly Madison Roberts, Charlotte Grace Roberts; one brother, Harold Roberts of Charleston; his long-time love of 36 years, Ms. Betty Ellis and her daughter Karen Ellis.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Leon Roberts and Raymond Roberts; a sister, Wilma Bruorton; and his first wife, Nita Mae Warner Roberts.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The First Tee of the Grand Strand at P.O. Box 4806, North Myrtle Beach, SC 29597.
