Mr. Freddy Altman, 73, husband of Mrs. Bonnie J. Altman passed away Friday May 20, 2016, surrounded by friends and family, at Tidelands Hospice House in Georgetown.
A visitation will be held Sunday May 22, 2016 from 6-8 P.M. at Graham Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be 3 P.M. Monday May 23, 2016 at Ringel Heights Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Altman was born September 23, 1942 in Hemingway, SC, a son of the late Benson Altman and Elvia Creel Altman. He was a proud Vietnam Veteran who served his county in the United States Army. Mr. Altman was a member of Ringel Heights Baptist Church where he served many years as a Sunday School Superintendent, Deacon, and member of the Men’s Brotherhood. Freddy was the long-time owner and operator of Triple “A” Exterminators. He enjoyed writing and performing Bluegrass Music and was an accomplished musician on many different instruments. Mr. Altman also enjoyed hunting, trapping, beekeeping, and visiting with folks over coffee. He was a loving father, husband, and grandfather that will be remembered for his generosity, warm hugs, and glowing smile.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of over 48 years, are two sons, Russell Freddy Altman and his wife Jill of Saluda, SC, and Jason Lee Altman and his wife Lorie of Georgetown; four Grandchildren, Joshua, Ethan, Brandon, and Katherine; 3 brothers, Charles B. Altman and his wife Talou of Hemingway, and Jimmy and Teddy Altman, both of Gresham; 2 sisters, Nella Rae Godbold of Nichols and Linda Hughes of Hemingway; a special friend, Jacky Walton; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Donnie Joe Altman and a sister, Monta Avant.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tidelands Hospice House, 2591 N. Fraser Street, Georgetown, SC 29440 or Ringel Heights Baptist Church at 78 Rubin Ave., Georgetown, SC 29440.
