Obituary of Collie E. Ward Jr.

Mr. Collie E. Ward Jr. passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at Georgetown Hospital. Born March 12, 1931 in Daisy, Georgia, Mr. Ward was the son of the late Collie Elton Ward Sr. and Eva Richardson Ward. Mr. Ward was a devoted member of Screven Baptist Church and the Keystone Sunday School Class. He was a retiree from the Georgetown Fire Department after 29 years of service. Mr. Ward was an Army veteran who served in the Korean War. He was a fun loving father, husband and grandfather who enjoyed woodworking and watching the Atlanta Braves. A funeral service, with military honors, will be held on Friday September 25, 2015 at 1pm at Screven Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 12p-1pm. Burial will follow the service at Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. Surviving is his beloved wife of 63 years, Peggy Joyce Sharpe Ward; one son, William E. Ward (Amber) of Belmont, NC; one daughter, Sandra Ward Johnson (Ray) of Georgetown; two grandchildren, Josh Johnson (Kara) of Columbia and Rebekah Joyce Johnson of Georgetown; three great grandchildren, Michael Raymond Johnson, Allison Marie Johnson, and Madelynn Joyce Johnson, all of Columbia.
