Obituary of John Edward McConnell

John Edward McConnell, 68, passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving family and friends. Mr. McConnell was born in Georgetown, SC on July 30, 1947. He was a son of the late John Calvin McConnell and Frances Elizabeth Walstrom McConnell. A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Dave Murray, will be held Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 11am at First Baptist Church in Georgetown. Burial will follow at Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. Mr. McConnell was a hardworking man who worked for Summers roofing for over 18 years. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren. Surviving are: his wife, Mary J. McConnell; two daughters, Mary Kay Convery (Marty) and Catherine Blake (Rodney); four sons, Johnny McConnell (Jill), Bill McConnell (Frances), Paul McConnell (Jennifer), and Timothy McConnell (Tarrynn); eleven grandchildren, Adam, Dalton, Haven, Darien, Hanna, Maddie, Elizabeth, Aubree, Bradly, Jayden, and Tyde; six sisters, Barbara Ann Cribb, Frances Cohn (Howie), Phyllis M. Blankenship (Frank), Diane M. Rogers (Sammy), Joyce M. Barnhill (Joey), and Donna M. Shuler (C.L.); nine brothers, Roland Lambert (Connie), Roy McConnell, Roger McConnell (Paula), Henry McConnell (Rose), Buck McConnell (Joyce), Woody McConnell (Darlene), Marvin McConnell, Louie McConnell, and Dale McConnell; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a niece, Michelle Rogers, and a nephew, Frank Blankenship III.
