Obituary of Elton G. Russ

Elton Grey Russ, 78, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2015 at Medical University of South Carolina. He was born on June 5, 1937 in Georgetown, South Carolina. He was a son of the late Leslie T. Russ and Alvilda Pope Russ. A funeral service, officiated by Rev. Ted Sherrill, will be held Sunday, June 28, 2015 at 2:30pm at First Baptist Church in Georgetown. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30pm-2:30pm at the church. Burial will follow at Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. Mr. Russ was an avid golfer and member of the Winyah Bay Golf Club. He enjoyed woodworking and hunting. He was a devoted member of First Baptist Church and loved spending time with his family and friends. Surviving are: his beloved wife, Catherine B. Russ of Georgetown; one daughter, Sherrie Russ Levine (Michael) of Nashville, Tennessee; one son, Wilbur Leslie Russ “Will” (Julie) of Dallas, Texas; three grandchildren, Alicia Russ, Rachel Levine, and Zachary Levine; two brothers, James Irby Russ (Donna) of Pickens, South Carolina and Earl Russ (Brenda) of Florence, South Carolina.
