Harold C. “Bud” Griek, 89, passed away June 9, 2015 at Tidelands Community Hospice.
He was born on August 19, 1925 in West Sayville, New York. He was the son of the late William Griek and Madelaine Albin Griek.
Mr. Griek was a Veteran who served in World War II as a Merchant Marine and in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a devoted member of Georgetown Church of the Nazarene and enjoyed making fishing nets, tinkering with cars and boats and fishing. He was an accomplished musician who loved playing the guitar, harmonica, accordion, and dobro guitar.
A funeral service, officiated by Rev. Tony Lupton, will be held on Friday, June 12 at 7pm at Graham Funeral Home, 2200 S. Fraser Street. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 6pm-7pm. Burial at sea by the United States Navy will follow at a later date.
Surviving are: his wife Ruth Ellen Laird Griek; two daughters, Cheryl Ann Fenn of Georgetown and Susan Jean Umland of Dover, Delaware; three grandchildren, Tara Ann Fenn of Long Island, New York, Charles Mark Umland of Dover, Delaware, and William Jacob Umland of Newport News, Virginia.
