Obituary of Franklin Long

Franklin Branch "Bo" Long, 79, husband of Martha Gatlin Long, passed away February 26, 2012 at his home. Born on December 30, 1932, in Columbia, he was the son of the late Fennel Branch Long and the late Emmie Eula Ralinson. Mr. Long was a member of First Baptist Church Georgetown and was retired from the South Carolina Highway Department – traffic and planning division after 31 years of service. He was the president of the Waccamaw Neck Association and was the past president of Litchfield Country Club. Mr. Long was an avid golfer, sports fan and enjoyed fishing. He was the 1989 club champion of the Litchfield Country Club and also won many other golf tournaments. Mr. Long never met a stranger, was loved by many and will be dearly missed. Survivors include his wife of Pawleys Island; a son, Franklin Branch Long, Jr. of Lexington; a daughter, Terri Long Price and her husband Steve of Lighthouse Point, FL.; four grandchildren, Holly Long and Brittany Long both of Lexington and Ashton Price and Grant Price both of Lighthouse Point, FL; and two sisters, Mary Long Amason and Betty Long Tiller both of Hopkins. Visitation will be from 10 – 11 AM in the church parlor and the funeral service will be held at 11 AM Friday, March 2, 2012 both at First Baptist Church. The Rev. Ted Sherrill will officiate. Burial will be at 4PM in the Mill Creek Cemetery in Columbia.
