Mary Alice Davis Mathis, 86, widow of Francis Mathis, died Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at her home.
Born on May 5, 1925, in Georgetown County, she was a daughter of the late Ervin Davis and the late Ila Blakeley Davis. Mrs. Mathis was retired from International Paper Company and enjoyed playing Bingo, cooking and fishing.
Survivors include four children, Tressa "Star" Edwards (Bobby), Berties "Buck" Odum (Teressa), Cynthia "Cindy" Rogers and Douglas "Ervin" Odum (Laurie) all of Georgetown; a daughter – in – law, Julie Odum of Georgetown; 14 grandchildren, Gene Wilder, Tina Wilder, Kris Cooper, Tibbie Mathis, Bob Mathis, Fonda Odum, Shawn Cooper, Doug Odum, Alecia O’Donnell, Landon Small, Allen Odum, April Olin, Jarid Odum and Alaina Odum; 22 great grandchildren; and one sister, Berniece Martin of Georgetown.
She was preceded in death by a son, George Elwood Odum; five sisters; and four brothers.
Graveside Services will be held at 6 PM Thursday, August 4, 2011 in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens with Mr. Ralph Thompson officiating.
