Obituary of Ernest Tanner

Ernest Milton Tanner, 79, widower of Marion Miller Tanner died Friday, July 22, 2011 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital. Born on January 29, 1932 in Hemingway he was a son of the late Zacheous G. Tanner and the late Lynn Miller Tanner. Mr. Tanner retired from International Paper Company with 47 years of service and was a member of the Pine Tree Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working in his garden. Mr. Tanner was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include two children, Debra T. Swails of Georgetown and Terry Tanner of Kansas City, MO; four grandchildren, Leslie Strickland (Jay) of Georgetown, Julie Stewart (Jay) of Myrtle Beach, Lauren Swails of Georgetown and Brent Swails of Georgetown; four great grandchildren, Bailey Strickland, Peyton Strickland, Addison Stewart and Logan Swails; one sister, Sybil Cook (Rudy) of Johnsonville; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Flint Tanner and Gerald Tanner. A graveside service will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, July 26, 2011 in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens with Dr. Ted Sherrill officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Monday at Graham Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 219 Cleland Street.
