James Delbert Coker, 91, husband of the late Evelyn Floyd Coker of 72 years, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2010 at his home. Born on January 8, 1920 in Clarendon County he was a son of the late Jessie Neil Coker and the late Lennie Yarbrough Coker. Mr. Coker was a member of Georgetown Church of God and was retired from International Paper. Survivors include three daughters, Jessie Mae Bryant (Jessie Eugene) of Georgetown, Joyce Hanser (Robert) of Andrews and Jean Shelley of Georgetown; one brother, David B. Coker (Josephine) of Lake City; two sisters, Belma Goude of Georgetown and Mona Caraway of Coward; nine grandchildren, Greg Bryant (Della) of Georgetown, Rodney Bryant (Beth) of Atlanta, GA, Jena Hockenberry (Ted) of Georgetown, Dana Waninger (Mark) of Georgetown, Bradley Hanser (Tonya) of Florence, Bryan Hanser (Melissa) of Andrews, Wendy Woodard (Darrell) of Georgetown, Kevin Shelley (Pam) of Georgetown and Jason Shelley (Jennifer) of Georgetown; 17 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Garris Coker and two sisters, Vendella Young and Stella Young. Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, March 12, 2011 at Georgetown Church of God with the Rev. Ossie Deas and Rev. David Coker officiating. Burial will be at 2 PM in Pine Dale Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery in Turbeville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. The family would like to express their gratitude to Hospice Care of South Carolina for their care and compassion. Memorials may be made to Georgetown Church of God, PO Box 495, Georgetown, SC 29442.
