Lewis Randolph Elliott, Sr., 78, husband of Joann Pope Elliott died Monday, January 23, 2012 at Tidelands Community Hospice House.
Born on November 11, 1933 in Georgetown he was a son of the late Jacob Ervin Elliott and the late Sarah Elizabeth "Lizzie" Avant Elliott. Randolph was a member of First Baptist Church for 71 years where he served as a deacon. He was a 1953 graduate of Winyah High School and served in the South Carolina Army National Guard retiring as a Sergeant Major with 33 years of service. Randolph was a former personnel director with International Paper Container Division and was also a vital part of the Graham Funeral Home Staff for the past 13 years. Randolph became affiliated with Georgetown Kraft Credit Union in 1957 and served in many capacities including, Vice President as well as a member of the Board of Directors. In 2011 Georgetown Kraft Credit Union established the Randolph Elliott Scholarship which recognizes five graduating seniors in Georgetown County. Among many other things Randolph enjoyed shagging and was a member of the South Strand Shag Club. Randolph spent his life serving and helping others. His life was his legacy.
Survivors include his wife of Pawleys Island; three sons, Lewis Randolph "Randy" Elliott, Jr., David Craig Elliott and his wife Angie and Keith Edward Elliott all of Georgetown; two step children, Tony Edward Pope and his wife Karla of Chester and Tammy Joann Nettles and her husband Allen of Callahan, FL; six grandchildren, Lewis R. "Trey" Elliott, III, Trenton Alexander Elliott, Kimberly Michelle Elliott, Kirsten Lisa Marie Elliott, Christopher Lance Elliott and Dustin Keith Elliott; six step grandchildren, Sean Lamar Swindell, Matthew Swindell, Lauren Swindell, Bryson Edward Pope, Patrick Wilson Pope and Meredith Lee Pope, three great grandchildren, David Nathan Bryant, Connor Dustin Bryant and Maddison Grace Howard; and two brothers, James Ervin "Jimmy" Elliott and his wife Margaret Ann and Paul Glenn Elliott, Sr. and his wife Margaret all of Georgetown.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Frances Missroon (Nocky) Elliott.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM Thursday, January 26, 2012 at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Ted Sherrill officiating. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends starting at 6PM Wednesday at First Baptist Church.
