Obituary of Betty Ray

Corinne Cribb Ray, of Georgetown died Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Grand Strand Health Care. Mrs. Ray was born August 3, 1920 in the Union community of Georgetown County; the youngest daughter of Wes Permenter Cribb and Betty Owens Cribb. She was the widow of CW3 Hubert Ray. Mrs. Ray was Salutatorian of the 1936 class of Winyah High. She was a member of First Baptist Church, the Platt Sunday School Class, and Young as Ever Group. Surviving is one grandson, Breck Ray and his wife Kathy of Myrtle Beach, three daughters-in law, Charmine J. Ray of Georgetown, Anne Murray Ray of Florence, and Judith A. Ray of Omaha, three step-grandchildren, Dr. Richard Starlin, Todd Starlin, and Krista Christensen, four step-great grandchildren, Makenzie, Luke, and Abigail Starlin and Nathan Christensen, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Ray was predeceased by three sons, Lt. Col. Retired Larry Ray, Keith Ray, and Alan Ray, one daughter Suzanne Ray, and two great-grandchildren Katherine and Edward Ray. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Monday, January 23, 2012 at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Ted Sherrill officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery Annex. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.. The family suggests memorials to be made to First Baptist Church, 219 Cleland St., Georgetown, SC 29440.
