Obituary of Mildred Cross

Mildred Koger Cross, 84, widow of Julius A. Cross, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2014 at Tidelands Community Hospice House. Born on February 27, 1929, on Wadmalaw Island, she was a daughter of the late James William Koger and the late Lillie Mae Davis Koger. Mrs. Cross was a member of Screven Baptist Church and the Esther Sunday school class. She was retired from the Georgetown County Auditor’s Office. Survivors include six children, Richard E. Thames (Cathy) of Georgetown, Patricia Thames Query of James Island, Bonnie Thames Anderson (Dana) of Green Cove Springs, FL, Robin Williams Thomas (Marvin) of Asheville, NC, Rufus "Bo" J. Thames, Jr. (Hazel) of Awendaw and Dr. Beverly Williams Daniel (Dr. Sandy) of Columbia; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; one great-great-great grandchild; one sister, Janie Thomas of Mt. Pleasant; numerous nieces and nephews; and two special friends, Wallace Cottingham and Leona Bostick both of Georgetown. She was preceded in death by three husbands, Rufus J. Thames, Sr. and Lyonel E. Williams and Julius A. Cross; a grandson, Jason Thames; a great grandson, Arden Thames; three sisters; and four brothers. Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM Friday, January 31, 2014 at Screven Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Thursday at Graham Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Screven Baptist Church, PO Box 2776, Georgetown, SC 29442 or to Tidelands Community Hospice House, 2591 N. Fraser St. Georgetown, SC 29440.
