Obituary of Myrtle Martin

Myrtle Vernell Lambert Martin, 85, widow of Roy Gardner, passed away on Friday, January 17, 2014 at National Health Care in Murrells Inlet. Born on January 25, 1928, in Georgetown, she was a daughter of the late Oscar Lambert and the late Blanch Owens Lambert. Mrs. Martin enjoyed singing and listen to Patsy Cline. She was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include two children, Ray Martin (Barbara) Martin and Brenda Mercer (Gerald) all of Georgetown; eight grandchildren, Waynette Mercer (Gene) of Aiken, Ty Mercer (Amanda) of Georgetown, Jack Martin of Georgetown, Amanda Martin of Georgetown, Sharon Martin of Georgetown, Rusty Martin of Georgetown, Brook Blakley (Joey) of Georgetown, Brandon Huggins of Georgetown, and Jade Martin of Aynor; 17 great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; a special niece, Debby Rutkowski (Joe) of Georgetown; and a number of other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Bubba Martin; a sister, Betty Gibson; and a son in law, Wayne Mercer. Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM Monday, January 20, 2014 in the Graham Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4-6 pm Sunday at Graham Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Amedisys Hospice of South Carolina, 137 Professional Lane Unit B Pawleys Island, SC 29585. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff of NHC of Murrells Inlet for their loving and compassionate care that they provided to their loved one.
