Obituary of Hilbern Collins

Hilbern B. Collins, 86, husband of Mary Estelle Lambert Collins, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2014 at the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center in Charleston. Born on January 28, 1927, in Conway, he was a son of the late Hal Collins and the late Essie Sellers Collins. Mr. Collins was a US Navy veteran and was a member of Saints Delight Pentecostal Holiness Church. He enjoyed shrimping, fishing and playing the guitar. Survivors include his wife of Georgetown; a son in law, Thomas Lee Betterton, III of Daphne, AL; a granddaughter, Tiffany Shenoy (Dr. Nolan) of Atlanta, GA; four great grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; four step children; 16 step grandchildren; and a number of step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Teri Collins Betterton and Judy Collins; two brothers, Lehman Collins and Ham Collins; and sister, Foyedell Brock. A memorial service will be held at 3 PM Sunday, January 12, 2014 at Saints Delight Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Chris Browder officiating.
