Obituary of Joe Etheridge

Joe M. Etheridge, 78, husband of Maxine Brown Etheridge, passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at Tidelands Community Hospice House. Born on December 11, 1934, in Georgetown, he was a son of the late Lloyd Etheridge and the late Eva Sanders Smith. Mr. Etheridge was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and was a member of the Marine Corps Reserve. He was a member of First Baptist Church and the Spirit of Liberty and Fellowship Sunday School class. Mr. Etheridge enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife of Georgetown; two sons, Joe M. Etheridge, Jr. (Betty) of Kingstree and Jon L. Etheridge (Bobbi) of Summerville; four grandchildren, Carolyne Etheridge and Emily Etheridge of Summerville and Erica Kennedy Goodwin (Phillip) and Christopher Dale Kennedy (Louisa) all of Kingstree; two great grandchildren, Brooke Nicole Goodwin and Tiller Louise Kennedy both of Kingstree; one sister, Ruby Woodsides of Georgetown; and two nephews, Ian Woodsides and Chris Woodsides of Georgetown. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Etheridge. A memorial service will be held at 2 PM Sunday, November 3, 2013 at First Baptist Church with Dr. Ted Sherrill officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church parlor. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 219 Cleland St. Georgetown, SC 29440 Graham Funeral Home of Georgetown is in charge of the arrangements. www.grahamfuneralhome.org
