Obituary of William Lightsey

William "Bill" Grady Lightsey, Sr., 89, husband of the late Cleo Ford Lightsey, passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at Tidelands Community Hospice House of Georgetown.
Mr. Lightsey was born on October 26, 1923, in Alexander City, Alabama and attended Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church and was a US Coast Guard veteran. He was a member of the Propeller Club, Winyah Indigo Society, VFW Post 6444 and the American Legion. Mr. Lightsey enjoyed the outdoors especially fishing and hunting.
Survivors include two sons, William G. Lightsey "Squiz", Jr. (Carolyn) of Georgetown and Stephen F. Lightsey of Clemson; a daughter, Dianne L. Parker (Bill) of Georgetown; seven grandchildren, Sherri Smith (Jay) of Murrells Inlet, Tammy Hutcheson (Fred) of Myrtle Beach, and Dana Smith (Rick), Becky Goude (Christopher) and Jamie Parker all of Georgetown, Laura Jenkins (David) of Puerto Rico and Katherine Lightsey of Anderson; 13 great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Nathan Lightsey and Dewey Lightsey; and one sister, Virginia Edmunds.
Funeral Services will be held at 3 PM Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Wayne United Methodist Church with Rev. Danny Chamblee and Rev. John Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
