Obituary of Donald Smith

Donald Blake Smith, 88, husband of Jeanette Britt Smith, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2013 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital. Born on January 1, 1925, in Georgetown, he was a son of the late Nathan LeGrand Smith and the late Dorothy Adell Blake Smith. Mr. Smith was a member of Screven Baptist Church and the Faith Bible Sunday School Class. He was a retired US Air Force veteran having served in WWII and enjoyed working with his hands and had a great love for animals. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Jeanette Britt Smith of Georgetown; four children, Arnold Blake Smith (Katherine) and Robert Scott Smith all of Delray Beach FL and Steven Mark Smith (Jane) and Carol Smith Gay all of Pawleys Island; seven grandchildren, Christopher Smith, Mallory Smith, Sara Smith, Olivia Gay, Kimberly Smith, Britt Smith and Dylan Gay; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Arnold Smith and Jack Smith; and four sisters, Ernestine Killen, Jessie Cox, Pearl Jackson and Virginia Mercer. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Screven Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Ellis and Rev. Jason Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
