Gary Dewaine Ray, 52, passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2013. Born on September 12, 1960, in Georgetown, he was a son of Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Tompkins Ray and the late William Elbert Ray, Sr. Mr. Ray was a member of Graves Station Southern Baptist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed fishing. Survivors include his mother of Georgetown; three daughters, Crystal Ray-McKenzie of Murrells Inlet, Ashley Ray-McKenzie of Murrells Inlet and Katie Ray of Georgetown; two grandchildren, Sophia Throckmorton and Landon McKenzie; two brothers, Edward "Shakey" Madden (Cherrie) of Hemingway and Alan Ray (Hilda) of Georgetown; two sisters, Julie Flegel of Georgetown and Sheila Locklair (Johnny) of Georgetown; and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other special family members. He was preceded in death by his father, William Elbert Ray; and two brothers, Joey Ray and Billy Ray. A Graveside service will be held at 3 PM Saturday, March 23, 2013 in the Piney Forest Cemetery with Mr. Mike Goude officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8PM Friday at Graham Funeral Home. Memorial may be made to Georgetown County Alcohol and Drug Abuse Commission, 1503 Winyah St. Georgetown, SC 29440.
