James LaBrue Lambert of the St. Delight community in Georgetown County died at home on Sunday, February 24, 2013, after a long illness. LaBrue was born on May 20, 1930, to the late Dewey Ruice Lambert and Bertha Kennedy Lambert. He was a graduate of Andrews High School and was a member of St. Delight Pentecostal Holiness Church. In addition to farming, he retired after 42 years from International Paper Company and also served for 41 years in the SC Army National Guard. Survivors include his wife of 62 years Dorothy Drew Lambert and 4 children: Sharon (Billy) Strickland, Doris (Mike) Anderson, Jimmy (Tame’) Lambert, and Dewey (Jackie) Lambert. He was "Pappy" to 9 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Rachel Mills, of Lugoff and a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Ruice Lambert and an infant sister. Visitation will be on Monday, February 25 from 6-8 PM at St. Delight P. H. Church. Funeral services, officiated by Rev. Jimmy Lambert and Rev. Chris Browder, will be at 2 PM on Tuesday, February 26 at St. Delight P.H. Church. Interment with military honors will follow at Holmes Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Delight P.H. Women’s Ministry, 8285 St. Delight Rd., Andrews, SC or to Tidelands Community Hospice, 2591 N. Fraser St., Georgetown, SC. The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to Tidelands Hospice, Brooke Howard, and Lillie Johnson for their in-home care.
