Frances LaRue Alderman Joyner died November 30, 2011 in Anderson, SC. She was married for 35 years to Raleigh Lawrence Joyner, who died in 1973. LaRue was born on December 10, 1919 in Ingold, NC to the late Leon Fife Alderman and Julia Bullard Alderman. She grew up in Andalusia, AL, where she met and married Raleigh. They moved to Georgetown, SC and LaRue resided there for the next 65 years. LaRue was the manager of the Maryville School food service until she retired in 1980. She also worked part time in the office at the Carolinian Motel in Georgetown. In 1975 she was honored with the Georgetown Business and Professional Women’s Working Woman of the Month award. She was a member of the White Bridge Garden Club and the Georgetown Hospital Auxiliary and volunteered in the hospital gift shop for many years. LaRue was a long time member of the First Baptist church, its Senior Choir, Young As Ever group, Platt Sunday School class and WMU Hannah Plowden Circle. In early 2005 LaRue moved to a Senior Independent Living apartment in Carrboro, NC, near her daughter Anne. Following an acute illness in late 2009, she moved to NHC in Anderson, SC, near her daughter, Frances. LaRue is survived by daughters Anne Bodner (Steve) of Pittsboro, NC and Frances Gorsuch (Clyde) of Clemson, SC and by her son-in-law Clinton Black (Donna) of Salley, SC. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jordan Bodner (Holly) of Cary, NC, Ruth Bodner Williams (James) of Chapel Hill, NC, Derek Tindall (Amber) of Wilmington, NC, Melissa Black Green (Bobby) of St Matthews, SC, Leigh Anne Black Crumpton (Robby), Barbie Black Craven, Bridgett Black, all of Salley, SC, Megan Gorsuch Sisco (Drew) of Easley, SC, Autumn Gorsuch Cervantez (Mike) of Fort Worth, TX. Also she is survived by her 10 great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Madeleine Bodner, Jeremy, Madelyn and Lillian Sisco, Andrew and Laura Cervantez, Kirkland and Kaylee Craven, and Miles Fletcher Tindall as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Raleigh, LaRue was predeceased by her daughter Marilyn Joyner Black and her grandson David Carson Black and by her three brothers and her sister. Visitation will be at Graham Funeral Home in Georgetown on Saturday, December 3, 2011 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM. A graveside service and burial at Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens will be held the same day at 3:00 PM. Memorial contributions to honor LaRue may be made to the Music Fund of the First Baptist Church of Georgetown, 219 Cleland Street, Georgetown SC 29440. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude for the superior care provided by the staff of NHC and Solaris Hospice in Anderson, SC.
