Obituary of Doris Wilson Johnson

Doris Wilson Johnson, widow of Winford Johnson, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2023 in her home. A funeral service will be held in the mausoleum of Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 5, 2024. Born in Charleston, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence Julius Wilson and the late Martha Jane Wilson. They lived in Honeyhill, South Carolina. After she married Winford Johnson they began their lives and family in McClellanville. They had one son, Lawrence Julius Johnson. Once they began their careers at International Paper Company, where she worked in box plant sales, they moved to Maryville. Doris would continue her entire career, with International Paper Company, for over 40 years. After retirement, Doris and Winford enjoyed their time between their Pawley’s Island Creek house, called “Round to it” and their house in Maryville. Doris enjoyed entertaining her family and friends at the creek house. Her favorite thing to do was catching flounder and out fishing Winford! Surviving are two grandsons, Scott Johnson (Patti) and his two daughters Lauren Johnson and Anna Grace Johnson; Dr. Owen Johnson (Jenny) and his three children Cannon Cole Johnson, Wyatt Wilson Johnson and Reese Everlee Johnson; a daughter in law, Faye Johnson; one sister, Betty Britt; and one brother, Eugene Wilson. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Lawrence Julius Johnson, one sister, Jacquilyn Forte, and one brother, Clifford Wilson.
