Obituary of L B Hutchinson

Please share a memory of L to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
LB Hutchinson, 84, loving husband of Blinda Hutchinson passed away Thursday August 10, 2023 at The Landings of Georgetown. A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Monday, August 14, 2023 in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Georgetown. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. Born September 25, 1938 in Florence County, LB was a son of the late Blanche Gaskins Hutchinson and the late Leroy Hutchinson. He graduated in 1957 from Winyah High School, Georgetown, SC. He served 4 years in the US Navy on the USS Midway (CV-41) Aircraft Carrier in the Pacific. He returned to Georgetown after his military service and met Blinda. After a short time, they married, and LB began working at International Paper Company. His career there lasted 38 years. LB loved to fish and spent as much time as possible in the waters around Georgetown and in Lake Marion at Moncks Corner. He took great pride in his home and yard. He kept everything looking beautiful. LB was an avid University of South Carolina Gamecock supporter. He loved spending time with his family and friends during home games at Williams Brice Stadium (Willy B) where he had seats in The Zone. He was a long-time member of the Gamecock Club and supported USC Football, Baseball, and Basketball programs. As the years went by, LB developed the skill of wood carving. He loved to pick up his knife and just carve what came to mind…usually it had something to do with the USC Gamecock and the mascot (Cocky). After he and his wife moved into an assisted living home, he realized he could not take his knife with him. It was hard for him because he loved carving so much. He will be missed so much by his family. He was always there for his family. Surviving, in addition to his loving wife Blinda of sixty years are: one son, Mike Hutchinson (Stephanie) of Georgetown; two granddaughters, Peyton Hutchinson of Charlotte, NC and Paige Hutchinson of Cincinnati, OH; one sister, Cheryl Morris (Burness) of Jacksonville, FL; two brothers, James Hutchinson (Nellie) of Oak Harbor, WA, Tony Hutchinson (Aileen) of Sumter; and a number of extended family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Amedysis Hospice, 2503 Highmarket Street, Georgetown, SC 29440. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.grahamfuneralhome.org. Arrangements entrusted to Graham Funeral Home (843) 527-4419
