Obituary of Kathleen Barrineau Cooper

Kathleen B. Cooper, wife of the late Grady Cooper, passed away August 5, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family. A graveside service will be held 10:00am Monday August 14, 2023 in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. Born August 20, 1940, she was a daughter of the late Magaline Barrineau Mitchum and the late Luther Barrineau. She worked for several years at The News and Courier and Senior Catering. Mrs. Cooper enjoyed puzzles, and music, with country and gospel being her two favorites. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends over Sunday dinners. Surviving are one daughter, Christine Cooper Hopkens of Delaware; one son, Glen Cooper of Georgetown; four stepchildren, Randy Cooper (Rose), Irene Cooper Johnson (Bill), Johnny Mac Cooper (Cynthia), all of Georgetown, and MacRoy Cooper (Cindy) of Louisiana; sixteen grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren; four sisters, Stella B. Major, Cynthia B. Cooper (Johnny), Nancy Barrineau, and Barbara B. Cook (Kenneth), all of Georgetown; two brothers, Robert Barrineau of Georgetown and James Barrineau (Ruby) of Mullins;her fur babies, Queenie and King; and a number of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two children, Christopher Cooper and Baby Girl Cooper; two grandchildren, Tina Cooper and Grady Cooper; one stepdaughter, Terresa Davis; and two sisters, Mae Lawson and Maggie Cribb.
