Jay Cowart Strickland, Sr., Husband of Sandra Elaine Port Strickland, passed away Monday, June 12, 2023 in Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital. Mr. Strickland’s family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday June 15, 2023 at Graham Funeral Home. A private funeral service will be held at a later date. Born July 22, 1946, he was a son of the late James Howard Smith and the late Lillie Vonn Edge Smith. Mr. Strickland was a retired heavy machinery operator that enjoyed outdoor activities like fishing, riding motorcycles and spending time with his friends and family. Surviving, in addition to his wife of 55 years, are three sons, Christopher Jerald Strickland (Tammy) of Pawleys Island, Jay Strickland, Jr. (Leslie) of Georgetown, and James Joseph Strickland of Pawleys Island; four grandchildren, Bailey Katherine Strickland, Peyton Miles Strickland, Tyler Joseph Strickland, and Mackenzie Kay Strickland; one sister, Patsy Smith Shirer of Georgetown; and a number of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
