Obituary of J.B. Jolly

J. B. Jolly, 77, husband of Karen B. Jolly, passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at his residence.   Funeral services will be held at Wayne United Methodist Church on Friday, May 27, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends for an hour prior to the service.  Interment, with military honors, will be in Riverside Cemetery outside of Nichols, SC.   Mr. Jolly was born on August 22, 1944 in Loris, SC.  He was a son of the late Cullie and the late Mary Alice Jolly.  He was a graduate of Marion High School and Thomas A. Edison State College.  He served in the South Carolina Army National Guard for over forty-one years and retired as the Command Chief Warrant Officer for the South Carolina National Guard in 2004.  He served overseas during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm.  During his military career, he earned many awards and decorations.  He is listed on the Veteran’s Memorial Wall in Hartsville, Georgetown, the Patriotic Walk in Ridgeland S.C., the National Guard Museum in Columbia and the Warrant Officer Hall of Fame at Leesburg, Fort Jackson.  He was a life member of the South Carolina National Guard Association and the National Guard Association of the United States.  He was a member of Wayne United Methodist Church and the Wayne UMC Men’s Club.  He was a member of VFW Post 6444 in Georgetown and a Life Member of the Hartsville Masonic Lodge #173 where he was a Scottish Rite 32nd degree and member of the Omar Temple. In 2007 he retired from the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles in the Dealer License Unit after 25 years of service. He was owner and operator of Patriot Investigation from 2007 until his death.   Survivors include his wife, Karen B. Jolly of Georgetown; three sons, James Barry Jolly and his wife Cindy of Hartsville, Timothy Lloyd Jolly of Hartsville, and Christopher Stephen Jolly and his wife Jennifer of Dunn, N.C.; a daughter Barbara Blaine of St. Louis, MO; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; One brother, Cullie Jolly, Jr. and his wife Gail of Ridgeland, S.C.; a sister-in-law, Dr. Martine Watson Brownley of Atlanta, GA; one niece, Jeannie Bellflower and her husband Joey of Ridgeland, SC.   Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.grahamfuneralhome.org.
