Obituary of Richard Shurling
Mr. Richard Carlton Shurling, 53, of Georgetown passed away Thursday, June 30, 2016 at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Born October 22, 1962 in Georgetown, he was a son of the late Herman Shurling and Ruby Sharpe McMasters.
Mr. Shurling was a proud American that served several years in the South Carolina National Guard. He worked at John Michael’s Wholesale Nursery for over 20 years. Mr. Shurling had a passion for collecting and restoring classic cars, motorcycles, pistols, and antique pocket watches. He enjoyed traveling to the mountains and spending time with family and friends. Mr. Shurling was of the Pentecostal faith.
Surviving, in addition to his mother are; his fiancé, Amy Prosser of Georgetown; two sons, Thomas Shurling of Andrews and Michael Shurling of Georgetown; two granddaughters, Hailey Jade Shurling and Allyiah Keefe; three sisters, Debbie Shurling of Lancaster, Cathy Shurling of New Martinsville, WV, and Lisa Shurling Barnes of Aiken; one brother, Kenny Mims of Murrells Inlet; a number of nieces and nephews; and his faithful dog, Rosko Biscuit Shurling.
In addition to his father, he was predeceased by a brother, Cecil Mims.
Funeral Services with Military Honors will be held 3 P.M. Wednesday, July 6, 2016 in the chapel of Graham Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at 2 PM. Burial at Mt. Olive Cemetery will follow the funeral service.
