Obituary of Shirley Thacker

Shirley Akin Thacker, 70, widow of Wilbert H. Thacker, Sr., passed away Friday, January 6, 2012 at Tidelands Community Hospice House.
Born on September 16, 1941, in Bridgeport, AL, she was a daughter of the late James F. Akin and the late Bertha Ferguson Akin. Mrs. Thacker enjoyed collecting recipe books and cooking.
Survivors include two sons, Wilbert H. Thacker, Jr. (Lisa) of Laurens and Michael K. Thacker (Sara) of Georgetown; five grandchildren, Marc Thacker (Katherine) of Granville, OH, Paige Conwell (Brandon) of Anderson, Bret Thacker of Georgetown, Hannah Thacker of Georgetown and Ryan Thacker of Georgetown; three great grandchildren, Madison Thacker of Granville, OH, Hayden Conwell of Anderson and Caleb Conwell of Anderson; one brother, James F. Akin (Judy) of Bridgeport, AL and one sister-in-law, Joyce Hutchins of Jasper, TN.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Faye Akin; and two brothers, Kenneth Akin and Jerry Akin.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM Monday, January 9, 2012 in the Graham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Chris Browder officiating. Entombment will follow in the Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends from 3-5 PM Sunday at Graham Funeral Home.
