Georgetown Mrs. Nan Downey Ard, passed away Friday, September 2, 2016 at home. Mrs. Ard was born March 31, 1938 in Conway, South Carolina, a daughter of the late Paul Lamar Downey and Vera Fulmore Downey. She was a loving mother and grandmother that enjoyed spending time with her family. Mrs. Ard also enjoyed working in the yard and taking care of animals. She attended Screven Baptist Church and United Christian Outreach. Surviving are, three sons, Jay David Ard (Dana), James L. Ard (Melanie), and Johnny Ard; two daughters, Vera E. Sanders (Bill), and Barbara S. Ard; one sister, Barbara Parks (David); 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ard was predeceased by her husband, Mr. J.D. Ard. Visitation will be held Saturday, September 3, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. at Graham Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Sunday, September 4, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Graham Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
