Obituary of Richard Leroy Gibson, Jr.

Richard Leroy Gibson, Jr., 74 passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Ringel Heights Baptist Church at 2pm.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1pm-2pm in the church sanctuary.  Interment will immediately follow the service in Rose Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Born in Winnsboro, South Carolina on January 27, 1943, he was the son of the late Richard Leroy Gibson, Sr. and the late Mary Vivian Norton Gibson.4

Mr. Gibson was a member of Ringel Heights Baptist Church and was involved in a number of different ministries.  He loved people and was know for his generosity and loving heart.  He always remembered special events and birthdays of friends and family and his warm notes and endearing personality will be missed by many.

Surviving are four sisters; Diana Parrott (Cecil) of North Augusta, South Carolina, Janet Byrd (Howard) of Suffolk, Virginia, Sue Messerschmidt (Stan) of Oakland, Iowa, Elizabeth Mobley (Jack) of Georgetown, South Carolina; five nieces; four nephews; and a son, Richard L. Gibson III of North Carolina.

In lieu of flowers, memorials by be made to Pinecrest Baptist Church at P.O. Box 31, Andrews, SC 29510.
