Obituary of William Larry Holladay

Georgetown Mr. William Larry Holladay, 64, husband of Dianne Hewitt Holladay, passed away Friday, February 24, 2017 at the Medical University of South Carolina. Mr. Holladay was born November 25, 1952 in Georgetown, a son of the late John Oliver Holladay and Eunice Rogerson Holladay. He began his career as a youth minster at Lakewood Baptist Church and later Noel Methodist Church. Mr. Holladay returned to Georgetown and began his teaching career at J.B. Beck Middle School. He taught Health and Physical Education, where he was known for his high ropes course. He also taught Hunter’s Education and was instrumental in bringing the National Archery in School Program (NASP) to the students of Georgetown County. Mr. Holladay was a loving brother, father, grandfather, and husband who enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends. He especially cherished the time spent with his grandchildren. Surviving, in addition to his wife of 38 years are, a son, Jeremiah Holladay of Georgetown; a daughter, Jessica Holladay of Myrtle Beach; two grandchildren, Seth Holladay and Brianna Holladay; a brother, John D. Holladay and his wife Virginia of Georgetown; and a number of nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Tuesday February 28, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Georgetown.
